Basketball season is just around the corner and we want to let you get to know the staff of the Georgia Southern women's basketball team! Last, but certainly not least, is Head Coach Anita Howard! Howard is in her second season at the helm of Georgia Southern Women's Basketball and helped lead the Eagles to several firsts last season, including the first 2-0 start in Sun Belt play in program history and the first sweep of Georgia State since the two teams joined the league!
What is one movie that you know by heart?
I'm not a huge movie rerun watcher...but I could watch/recite Love and Basketball or the Five Heartbeats all day!
What is your favorite Christmas gift that you have ever received?
I've been blessed to have great Christmases and never made it about gifts. I love the moments and memories the most...and luckily I have several!
What's one adjective that describes you the best?
High-spirited...or LIT as the young people would say!
You can play a game of one-on-one against anyone - past or present. Who are you going up against?
This is tough because everyone I thought of could probably beat me and I'm too competitive to lose! I guess I'd say God so I could have 3 opportunities to win versus the Trinity - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Knowing I'll lose, I'll still be blessed and in great company!
How many different states have you lived in, in your life?
Sheesh...tooooo many! I'm an Air Force brat and a NCAA coach! It would've been easier to say where have you not lived!
One song for Karaoke Night - what song are you singing?
A gal like me can't just do one song on karaoke night! It would definitely be anything by India Arie, but if I'm feeling extra I'd attempt Beyonce or Cardi!
Favorite home cooked meal?
Anything with RICE! Yummy Yummy
In the upcoming blockbuster movie about your life, what actor or actress plays you?
THE Angela Bassett or Lynn Whitfield!
Best memory of your high school years?
Other than attending THE Alfred Ely Beach High School in Savannah where I was the Bulldog mascot, in the band (yes band camp too), ran for homecoming queen, and played volleyball...it would be being named the GHSA Player of the Year. Our team was stacked and they picked lil ole me!
What's the last TV show that you got absolutely hooked on?
I binged watched Grey's Anatomy, Nashville, and Greenleaf...all different, all good!
Who was your childhood idol?
Living in Germany a lot of my childhood I didn't get to watch a lot of tv so my idol was my oldest sister, Zondra. She could dance, sing, was athletic, could do hair, and was a fashionista! My mom and her taught me what a Renaissance woman looked like.
What's a place you've always wanted to travel to?
Sounds cliche...but Africa. I love the beach and have been fortunate to see some amazing beaches, but Africa seems like it would be breathtaking with all the culture and wildlife. Who knows...I may find Wakanda, LOL!
Favorite breakfast cereal?
Cap'n Crunch baby!!!
What's the last book you read?
I actually just pulled this off the shelf again and it's called "When Coaches Pray" by my girl Charlotte Smith. During these times it came in handy!
What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
No carbon copies needed. Just be your true, authentic self because everyone else is taken!
