TROY, Ala. – Georgia Southern women's soccer picked up their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Troy 2-1 in Alabama. The Eagles improved to 1-5-0 on the season and 1-3-0, while the Trojans fall to 0-4-1 on the season and 0-4-1 in conference play.Â
Sara Story picked up her first collegiate win making four saves to pick up the win. Marcela Montoya scored her first goal in over two years, slotted a ball in the 16th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Simone Timm scored her first collegiate goal in the 29th minute to add to the Eagles lead.
Late in the first half, the Trojans threatened, scoring in the 32nd minute. Story made two saves in the second half to preserve the Eagles lead. GS will return home for the first of two meetings against the Chanticleer of Coastal Carolina. The match will begin at 6 p.m. from Eagle Field.Â
