Eagles Compete in Gridiron Classic: Final Results

MACON, Ga. - Georgia Southern men's tennis wrapped up their first Fall action of the year on Sunday afternoon at the Mercer Bears Gridiron Classic hosted by Mercer.
GS won two of their three doubles matches on Sunday, as Pascal Wagemaker and Carter French took home a victory over Troy, 8-6. Valentin Dun and Jaap Aaldering also defeated Troy 8-1 on the day to start off the day hot.
In singles play the Eagles took on the Mercer Bears, winning three of the seven matches. Pascal Wagemaker won in three sets, after dropping the first set of his match, while Carlos Garcia did the same. Carter French won in straight sets over Mercer to round out the first tournament of the year.

"It was good to be able to compete this weekend. It's been a strange fall and for us to have the opportunity to compete is great. We started of kind of rusty, but fought hard all three days. Carter had a good weekend results wise with winning all of his singles and 4 out of 5 doubles with Pascal. Carter has been good in practice the last couple of weeks and very coachable. He stayed aggressive and played the way we think he should play. It was good to see him backing it up this weekend. Pascal and Valentin played hard, but didn't always get the result they wanted. I believe they are on the right track and doing the right things. Overall it's good to see where we are with other conference teams being at the tournament. Now we will get back to practice and work on some things we need to get better at before the spring season starts."
