Eagles Blanked by Chants on Wednesday

CONWAY, S.C. – Georgia Southern women's soccer dropped their final regular season match on Wednesday evening in Conway, South Carolina, 1-0. The Chanticleers improve to 6-4-0 on the season and 6-4-0 in conference play, while the Eagles fall to 3-9-1 and 3-6-1 in conference play. 

In the first half, the Eagles began the match with a high octane pressure, collecting eight shots to the Chants two in the period. Georgia Southern forced Ky Hudson to make two saves in the first half to keep the match scoreless. The Eagles outshot the Chanticleers 8-2 in the first half, but neither side could find the back of the net.

In the second half, the Chanticleers outshot the Eagles 6-2 finding the back of the net in the 59th minute. Mackenzie Gibbs scored the eventual game winner for the Chanticleers to close out a 6-4-0 season for the Chants. The Eagles will return home for the next few days, before heading to Foley, Alabama for the Sun Belt Conference Championships.

The Eagles will be the five seed in the tournament and will take on Little Rock on Monday November, 2nd at 2:30 p.m.
