Fourth straight year that the Eagles have carried a 3.0 GPA or better for the academic year
STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern Men's Soccer has received recognition from the Sun Belt Conference for carrying a 3.0 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.
The Eagles carried a 3.0 GPA and received a trophy from the league commemorating the milestone. It's become a regularity for Georgia Southern as it's the fourth straight year that the team has earned the honor. That encompasses all four years during Head Coach John Murphy's tenure in Statesboro.

"We have high program standards, both on and off the field," Coach Murphy said. "The most important of those being that our student-athletes excel in the classroom, and eventually graduate from Georgia Southern. This recognition reinforces that our young men have been doing just that. I couldn't be more proud of them. I'm very appreciative to our Academic Services department, particularly Nicole Mitchell, and our coaching staff who are really supporting our kids the best they can do reach that high standard on a consistent basis. I'm a big believer that academic success ties into a successful performance on the field. And this success is a good indication of the players that we have and the expectations we have for our program."
