
Sun Belt Releases 2020-21 Women's Basketball League Slate

Eagles will play 16 conference contests this season; play begins New Year's Eve
STATESBORO - The Sun Belt Conference has announced the 2020-21 Women's Basketball conference slate for the upcoming season. Each team will play 16 contests, with action beginning on December 31st and continuing through the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championships, which will be played March 5-8 in Pensacola, Fla.
The league is continuing its Thursday-Saturday slate of games for 2020-21. Georgia Southern will play seven of its first nine league dates at Hanner Fieldhouse in Head Coach Anita Howard's second season at the helm of the Eagles. League competition begins on New Year's Eve as Coastal Carolina visits Hanner, then on Sunday, January 2nd, Appalachian State will take on the Eagles.
The Arkansas schools visit Hanner on January 7th (Little Rock) and January 9th (South Alabama), then the Eagles make their first league road trip of the season on January 14th and 16th, to take on Troy and South Alabama, respectively.
The Eagles host Georgia State on January 23rd, then welcome in the Texas schools on January 28th (Texas State) and UT Arlington (January 30th). The January 30th date will be a doubleheader as the Eagles and Mavericks will play before the Georgia Southern men host Georgia State.
February begins with a road swing to Louisiana where the Eagles will face ULM on February 4th and Louisiana on February 6th. The final regular season home games for the Eagles will be on February 11th (South Alabama) and February 13th (Troy). The final three regular season games are all on the road, beginning with the return trip to Georgia State on February 20th. Georgia Southern wraps up the regular season at Appalachian State on February 25th and at Coastal Carolina on February 27th.
All 12 league women's basketball teams will advance to the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championships in Pensacola. The first four seeds will receive byes, and first round action begins on Friday, March 5th at both Pensacola State College and the Bay Center Arena. The quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, March 6th at both venues, with the semifinals on Sunday, March 7th and the final on Monday, March 8th, taking place at the Bay Center Arena.
The non-conference schedule for Georgia Southern is still being assembled. The NCAA has determined the start date for Division I Women's Basketball in 2020-21 will be Wednesday, November 25th. Georgia Southern will release its non-conference slate as soon as possible.
