Men's Tennis Gain Valuable Experience in Fall Opener

Two Freshmen Get First College Wins

THOMASVILLE—The Georgia Southern men's tennis team opened the 2019 fall schedule matching up against five teams from Georgia, Florida and Alabama at the Thomasville Invitational over the weekend with four Eagles competing fiercely in singles and doubles play.

Freshmen Neil Kandhai and Jaap Aaldering both notched their first wins in their collegiate careers.

What head coach Sander Koning had to say:
Friday:
"Georgia Gwinnett is a strong team with experienced players, and they showed that when it counted. I believe the freshmen played well and stayed energetic the entire time."
"We have to learn from today and make some adjustments for tomorrow. The entire weekend will be tough competition."
Saturday:
"It was a tough day; I believe we played better than yesterday, and I saw some good things. We also have plenty to improve upon. I am happy for Neil getting his first college win, he played very disciplined and earned it.
"We are looking to finish strong tomorrow."
Sunday:
"It was a good learning experience for the freshmen, and they all got their first collegiate wins under their belt.
"The first tournament is always a good point to start from and this one wasn't any different. We saw a lot of good fight and guys were coachable."
