GS Women’s Soccer Falls to Last Non-conference Opponent

STATESBORO, GA –The Georgia Southern women's soccer team lost 0-1 on Sunday afternoon to UAB.    

Claire Amici, Kristin Sandifer, Taylor Regensburger and goalie, Olivia Elofsson led the Eagles' defensive play to keep UAB from scoring the entire first half. Elofsson only allowed one goal by UAB's Megan Hudgens in the 54th minute of the game.

The Eagles had five shots during the game – four from Karin Winka and one from Nora Falnes. Both players had one shot that was on goal.

Elofsson saved four of the five shots on goal from UAB.

"We just need a little bit more of communication. If the goalkeeper calls it or if the defender calls it. If we had been a little bit more decisive I don't think the goal would have happened. If they were creating a lot of goal-scoring opportunities that would be a problem. We just need to continue to look at ourselves and see how we can get better."
 
LOOKING AHEAD

The Georgia Southern Eagles start conference play at Coastal Carolina on Friday., Sept. 20. The game will start at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 Georgia Southern returns to Eagle Field to take on Little Rock. Sunday's game will be broadcasted on True Blue Live. The team will celebrate World Soccer Day with discounted tickets for fans wearing international jerseys and post-game autographs.
