President's Kickoff presented by Sport Clips to Highlight Aug. 17 Fan Day

Football scrimmage, fan fest, caravan and pep rally to highlight exciting day in Statesboro

STATESBORO - A new tradition is beginning this fall with a new event titled the President's Kickoff presented by Sport Clips, to be held Saturday, Aug. 17 at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. The President's Kickoff, hosted by Georgia Southern Athletics, will combine the annual fan fest with the former Day One event. Fans, students and guests of the university are invited to this exciting event!

Gates will open at 9 a.m. and the football team will hold an open scrimmage at 9:30 a.m. The North Concourse will be the only side open and fans may enter through Gate 12. Gate 15 will also be open for students to enter. The first 2,000 freshman students in attendance with a valid Eagle ID will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of the Southern Exchange Company and Georgia Southern Athletics.

The athletics department will open the Field of Dreams during the scrimmage with footballs available for kids to play with and inflatables to enjoy. The Hall of Fame area within the Ted Smith Family Football Center will be open from 9:30-11:30 a.m. CORE Credit Union will have a photo booth with fun props, cheerleaders and GUS on the North Concourse during the scrimmage. Concessions, now provided by Ibis Catering, will be available throughout the event. Additionally, the University Store will be open for fans to purchase all their Adidas gear to get ready for the season. The Southern Exchange Company will also have merchandise on display for fans. 

Following the scrimmage, at approximately 11:30 a.m., there will be some fun entertainment and we will celebrate Georgia Southern University traditions, history and famous chants. The Border Pawtrol Disc Dog Team will perform their high-flying tricks and routines with members Rocky and Fynn. The Southern Pride Marching Band will also take the field to perform their pre-game football routine. Emcee and Voice of the Eagles, Danny Reed, will take us through our history, traditions and chants along with our student-athletes. Special guest speakers for the event include University President Dr. Kyle Marrero, head football coach Chad Lunsford, head volleyball coach Chad Willis, and interim head women's soccer coach Josh Moffet. 

An autograph session is also set with your favorite football, volleyball, and women's soccer players as they will be set up in groups along the sidelines of Glenn Bryant Field. Fans can bring in outside items to be signed and posters will be provided free of charge to those who wish to get one signed. Photos may be taken, but selfies and posed photographs that hold up the line will not be permitted so that everyone can get their items signed in the allotted time.

The President's Kickoff presented by Sport Clips is free and open to fans of all ages. Parking is also free. 

The event will also be the first chance for fans to pick up their football season ticket packets and Eagle Fund membership benefits at the Gate 8 ticket booth starting at 9:30 a.m. For those who haven't purchased their season tickets, they can do so at the event, or purchase them online at GSEagles.com/Tickets. The ticket booth will close at the end of the event. Volleyball, men's & women's soccer and men's & women's basketball season tickets will also be available for purchase.

Following the event, the Athletic Foundation will hold its Statesboro Coaches Caravan at 1:30 p.m. in the Gene Bishop Field House. Fans in attendance will hear from coaching staff regarding what's new and what's to come in Eagle Athletics! Seating is limited and the event is expected to sell out.
