STATESBORO - Former Georgia Southern rifle student-athlete and NRA All-American
Rosemary Kramer begins her long trek to Tokyo 2020 this weekend as she is set to compete in Germany at the Munich World Cup.
The fourth stage of the 2018 ISSF World Cup Series will kick off in Munich on May 24, taking place at the historic Olympian Schiessanlage in Hochbruck, the venue that hosted the shooting sport events at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games.
A total of 817 athletes will compete, representing 84 National Olympic Committees and piling up 1512 starts in the ten Rifle/Pistol events — eight individual and two mixed. Kramer's air rifle event takes place on
Sunday afternoon.
The competition follows the three previous stages held in Guadalajara, Changwon and Fort Benning, also marking the 28th time that the Bavarian city hosts an ISSF World Cup stage. The World Cup Series will reprise in Siggiewi next month, then concluding in Tucson next July, but as of now Kramer is not scheduled to compete in those events.
This leg is aimed to get Kramer a qualifying international score that would make her eligible to begin the process of making the Olympic team. She took the first step with a solid showing at Fort Benning in May.
All finals will be streamed live on the
ISSF website, on the
Federation's Livestream channel and on its official
Facebook page.
This weekend is just the start of the fun for Kramer, who before this trip had never been out of the country.
She will return to Georgia for USA Shooting National at Fort Benning in June and then will represent Georgia Southern and Team USA at the World University Games in Naples, Italy July 3-9. She joins Liz Marsh (TCU), Levi Clark (Memphis) and Will Shaner (Kentucky) on the squad.
If she is named to the USA National Team, she will then move to Colorado to train at the US Olympic Center in preparations for the Olympic Trials that start in September and conclude in December.

Kramer could be joined by
two other Eagles at the World University Games.Â
Kramer, who has exhausted her NCAA eligibility, will take the year off from academics to try and make the Tokyo 2020 dream come true. She is expected to graduate in December, 2020. Kramer, a biology major at Georgia Southern, wrapped up her collegiate career as the most-decorated rifle student-athlete in the short history of the Georgia Southern program and finished third in the NCAA air rifle competition this past season.
