STATESBORO - Visiting Texas State took a pair of Sun Belt Conference games from Georgia Southern on Thursday evening at Eagle Field. The Bobcats won game one, 7-1, then took game two in come-from-behind fashion, 5-3.
The two teams will have Friday off as expected severe weather in the Statesboro area forced the alteration of this weekend's schedule. Game three of the series between Georgia Southern (19-23, 5-14 SBC) and Texas State (24-19, 12-7 SBC) will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Eagle Field.
"I think we hit the ball hard," Georgia Southern Head Coach
Kim Dean said. "I think our pitchers did a good enough job. I think Rylee [Waldrep] threw exceptionally well for a tight strike zone, but she kept us in the game against a good hitting team in Texas State. I think we put the ball in play, we had some baserunners, and I think our pitchers did their best to keep us in the game."
GAME ONE: Texas State 7, GS 1
The Bobcats scored single runs in the first, third and fifth innings to build a 3-0 lead, then broke the game open with a four-run seventh inning. The Eagles got their lone run in the bottom of the seventh, on an RBI double from
