STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Head Women's Basketball Coach Anita Howard announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to play for the Eagles in the upcoming 2020-2021 season during the early signing period.
The three new Eagles are: 5-11 guard Lacy Robins (Statesboro, Ga. / Statesboro HS); 5-10 guard/forward Simone James (San Diego, Calif. / Christian HS) and 6-5 center Lydia Freeman (Atlanta, Ga. / Westlake HS).
"I felt yesterday was a great start to the tradition of women's basketball here," Coach Howard said. "We signed three strong freshman. To build any program, you want to start from the ground up, and I think we did that with Lydia, Simone and Lacy. All of those players are really great high school seniors, and I know they're going to come in ready to go as freshman at Georgia Southern."

Lacy Robins
5-11 Guard
Statesboro, Ga.
Statesboro HS
Earned first-team 5-A All-State honors from the Atlanta Journal Constitution for the Blue Devils as a junior ... Led Statesboro HS to a region championship and a 25-win season, earning Region Player of the Year honors ... Holds school records for most three-pointers in a game and most points in a season.
Coach Howard: "Lacy is a hometown legend. We talk about buying in to having fans in the stands, she's going to do that because she's home grown just like Coretta Brown. That was one of the things we were pleased about, was being able to keep her right here in Statesboro. That was a different type of recruit. She's a big point guard, shooting guard, real active. I love active players. She can shoot the three, she can put it on the floor. She's going to bring Coach Howard style of basketball to Georgia Southern."

She's able to finish around the rim like nobody I've seen. She keeps the ball up high and finishes well. Shoots 60% from the field. She's something we needed and she's definitely going to help us right away."
