Georgia Southern Hosts GS Championship Meet Nov. 1-3
GAINESVILLE, Florida -- The Georgia Southern men's tennis team completed its trip to the ITA Southeast Regional Championship Sunday with a pair of athletes competing in three consolation matches on the campus of the University of Florida.
Senior Murphy McCullough advanced once over Brandon Freestone (GT) 6-4, 6-0 in the back draw male singles before falling in the next round to Brian Berdusco (UF) 6-3, 2-6, 0-1.
What coach Sander Koning had to say:
"Murphy played well today and just came up short in the 10 point tiebreak."
"As always, this tournament let's us know what we have to improve on and I believe we are doing the right things in practice. We have to be more decisive and have a higher intensity."
"I will be looking for that next week with our own tournament."
Alexandros Roumpis fell to Chris Yun (GT) 5-7, 2-6 in the first round of consolation.
The team ends its fall schedule with this coming weekend as hosts to the GS Championships Nov. 1-3.
