
GS Women's Basketball Adds Tsubasa Nisbet To 2018-19 Signing Class

U17 New Zealand national team player to join the Eagles for the upcoming season
STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Head Women's Basketball Coach Kip Drown announced the signing of New Zealand national team standout Tsubasa Nisbet to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Eagles in the upcoming 2018-19 season.
Basa Nisbet hails from Burnside, New Zealand, and has played internationally for the New Zealand U17 National Team as well as for her Burnside High School team. A 6-0 forward, Nisbet also plays club for the Gators Women's Premier club in the Canterbury Basketball Association. During the 2017 FIBA U17 Oceania Championship, Nisbet averaged 12 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, shooting 50% from the field in helping New Zealand advance to the championship game.
"We are excited to add Tsubasa to our program for next year," Coach Drown said. "She is a 6'0" forward that has excellent mobility and plays the game extremely hard. She is going to help us stretch the floor vertically with her speed. Basa has International experience that will be of benefit to her as she brings her game to the States. Besides the basketball aspect, she is an excellent student and a person of high character."
Nisbet joins the three early signees announced in November - Jordan Strange, Lola Lovitt and Gabriella Felkins - to make up the incoming freshman class for the Eagles in 2018-19.
