The Eagles return to action at the Edwin Wattes Kiawah Island Spring Classic Feb. 25-27 on Kiawah Island, S.C.. GS has played in the tournament every season of the program's existence and three of the four times the tournament has been contested.
Tabbed as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, the 2018 edition of the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic has expanded to 42 teams in this year's field and will be played for the fourth time in its history at Osprey Point at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C. Two courses are used for the three-day, 54-hole tournament including Oak Point. After 36 holes of play, the Top 22 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point during the final round, while teams 23-42 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point.
GS is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Texas State Invitational at Plum Creek Golf Club, the first tournament of the spring.
Ella Ofstedahl finished fourth on the individual leaderboard for her third straight top-20 finish. Her second-round 69 tied for the second-lowest in school history, helped the Eagles post a 294 team score. That mark tied for the third-lowest team score at Georgia Southern.
Ansley Bowman placed 22nd, and
Julianna Collett, playing in her first collegiate tournament in over a year, tied for 31st.
Bowman makes her 24th start for the Eagles, and Ofstedahl makes her 11th. Collett will make her 6th career start, while
Sarah Noonan and
Natalie Petersen are in the lineup for the seventh time.
