ON THE DIAMOND
The Georgia Southern softball team travels to Madeira Beach, Florida, to participate in the Madeira Beach Invitational, hosted by Eastern Michigan University. The Eagles open the event on Friday at 4 p.m. against Jacksonville State and then turn right around to play Monmouth at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, GS takes on UMKC at 1:30 p.m., and then Abilene Christian at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Eagles wrap up the weekend with a game against EMU at 11:30 a.m.
LAST WEEKEND
The Eagles opened up 2018 by hosting the Eagle Round Robin. Although the schedule was altered by rain, the Eagles still managed to get in four games, going 3-1. GS opened with a 3-2 win over Austin Peay and then beat Murray State 5-4. On Sunday, the Eagles downed APSUÂ 5-4 and then couldn't mount a rally late in falling to ETSU 7-5. Shelby Wilson led the way at the plate, hitting .600 with a home run and five RBIs. The Eagles as a team hit .309 with four home runs and 17 RBIs while the pitching staff posted a 2.50 ERA with 15 strikeouts for the weekend.

Jacksonville State is 3-2 after playing in the River City Leadoff in Jacksonville and were scheduled to host Samford on Wednesday. The Eagles and Gamecocks will play on Field 2.
Monmouth will open the season this weekend. The Eagles and Hawks will play on Field 2.
UMKCÂ is 2-3 after playing in the UNI-Dome Classic in Cedar Falls, Iowa, this past weekend. The Eagles and Roos will play on Field 1.
Abilene Christian is 1-3 after playing in the UTSAÂ Softball Classic in San Antonio last weekend. The Eagles and Wildcats will play on Field 2
EMU will open the season this weekend. The all-Eagle matchup will take place on Field 2.
