ATLANTA – Madelyn Ott collected 15 kills and four blocks to lead Georgia State to a 3-1 Sun Belt volleyball win over Georgia Southern Wednesday night in GSU Sports Arena. 

Georgia State picks up half a point in the Southern vs. State Rivalry Series, and now leads 2.0-1.5. The loss also knocks the Eagles out of contention for the Sun Belt Tournament.

Eagles of the Match
Skylar Ball had 12 kills and hit .240 for Georgia Southern (8-22, 2-13).

Key Moment
With the match tied 1-1, the Eagles erased a three-point deficit and tied the score 23-23 on a Maddie Bryant kill late in the third set. Ott answered with a kill for State, and Lauren Bandera served an ace to give the Panthers (7-18, 4-11) a 2-1 lead in the match.

Stat of the Match
Georgia State outblocked the Eagles 16-5 and held Southern to a .133 hitting percentage.

Next Up
The Eagles host the Panthers in the season finale Friday in Hanner Fieldhouse. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m., and GS will honor seniors April Luther, Julia Landavazo, Joscelin Morrow and Lauren Reichard prior to the match.
