STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's tennis team hosted a community outreach event called "Tennis for Ta-Ta's" Saturday January 13, raising $1,000 for breast cancer awareness through multiple forms of donations. The team set up a gofundme page and collected student athlete donations and private donations to raise awareness.

The event began at 12:00 p.m. and continued throughout the afternoon, lasting just over four hours in length. The Eagles continued to battle the crisp conditions of about 38-40 degrees, along with the 10 mph wind gusts on the courts.
 
When given an opportunity to choose their outreach the women's tennis team jumped on the chance to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. All members of the team said that this cause was close to them because they all knew a friend or family member that has been affected by breast cancer.
 
"The team jumped on this opportunity when they were given ideas for community outreach," said Head Coach Sean McCaffrey. "They not only wanted to donate money to the cause, but donate their time and effort into it."
 
The team played throughout the day at the Wallis Tennis Center and invited members of the community to come to the event. The women taught visitors various skills and played games where people could win prizes. Student athletes from all sports joined the cause and came out to support the Eagles during their marathon.
 
"We had a lot of the athletes attend which we are really thankful for," said Lindsay Truscott, a junior on the team from Centurion, South Africa, about the attendance at the event.
 
Nearly 140 student athletes were in attendance including members from volleyball, track and field, softball, swimming and diving, football, men's and women's soccer and golf came to show support
