STATESBORO, Ga.  – Over the next week and a half, we meet each of Eagles on the women's tennis team and learn a little bit more about each of the ladies. First up is freshman
Mila Hartig from Pretoria, South Africa. A graduate from Menlopark High School, Hartig played tennis under head coach Hendrik Coertzen. She was a part of the South Africa u/15, u/17, and u/19 teams twice while reaching the highest open ranking of No. 6 during her prep years.
What do you enjoy most about playing tennis?
I enjoy the mental and physical challenges tennis has to offer. I like to push myself and improve and tennis has all this in store.
What age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 5 years old.
When/why did you decide tennis was going to be your sport you concentrated on?
I decided that tennis was the sport I was going to concentrate on at the age of 14. I realized that tennis offers a lot of opportunities for the future and the present.
What are you most looking forward to about the upcoming season?
I am looking forward to competing against the different colleges and to improve my tennis.
Who has had the greatest influence on your game?
My mother has had the biggest influence on my game, she has supported me right from the start.
If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would it be?
I would like to meet Serena Williams.
What do most people not know about you?
Most people don't know that I love to bake and I would like to own a bakery one day.
