Georgia Southern caps a three-match homestand by hosting South Carolina State in a non-conference contest Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse.
It's the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Eagles since 2011. GS holds a 17-7 lead in the all-time series and has won the last seven.
The Eagles are coming off a 1-1 weekend as they opened Sun Belt Conference schedule at home. GS topped ULM 3-0 but fell 3-1 to Louisiana. The Friday match vs. the Ragin' Cajuns was the Eagles' first since since Sept. 2 after having four matches canceled because of Hurricane Irma.
Senior Megan Chevalier averaged three kills and 1.14 blocks a set while hitting .317 in the two matches. She now has 671 career kills.
Freshman Skylar Ball averaged 1.86 kills and 1.71 blocks for the Eagles. She had nine blocks against ULM, one shy of the school record for a three-set match. She was named to the all-tournament team at the Bash in the Boro Sept. 2.
Senior Cathrine Murray has 852 kills and is 124 away from cracking the top-10 on the school's career chart. Classmate Anna Wenger has 638.
The Eagles open a four-match conference road trip Friday when they travel to Troy for a 7:30 p.m. contest. Georgia Southern also takes on South Alabama, Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State during the stretch.
