Eagles Late Flurry Not Enough as Bobcats Strike Early

Texas State defeats the Eagles 1-0 after scoring in the 8th minute

STATESBORO, Ga. – On a windy Friday night in San Marcos, Texas, the Eagles and Bobcats battled in conference play. The Bobcats struck first on a ball that was crossed into the box in the 8th minute. The ball bounced around and was finally cleaned up by Sydney Kammer from 5 yards out.

The Eagles controlled possession for most of the game and flipped the shot totals in the second half. The Blue and White had plenty of opportunities late in the game, but the Bobcats defense was too much to break. The Eagles will return to action on Sunday against Louisiana at 1:00 PM.

WHAT HEAD COACH BRIAN DUNLEAVY SAID
"Frustrating game for us tonight, we had the majority of the possession but just didn't have the conviction in the final third. Texas State did a great job in that regard. We were better in buildup play, but nowhere as dangerous as they were. We had positives, some of our younger players stepped into roles tonight and did well, we did a good job of keeping the ball, and our work rate was high. It just didn't click for us, and that happens, we just need to do a better job with our attacking opportunities. We'll bounce back this is a mentally strong group, I believe in them."

NEXT UP
The Eagles will head to Lafayette, Louisiana to take on the Ragin' Cajuns (4-4-1) (1-0-1) on Sunday, at 1:00 pm.
