STATESBORO, Ga. – Tuesday afternoon the Sun Belt Conference announced that sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Karinshak was named Defensive Player of the Week. Karinshak has posted a 2-0-1 record during the first four games of the season and sits atop the national lead for a few statistical categories.

Karinshak finished the weekend with a 1-0-1 record, earning her second and third clean-sheets of the season. She made 12 saves in the 0-0 double overtime draw with Kennesaw State on Friday. She made two saves in the 3-0 victory Sunday against Siena. Karinshak now posts a 2-0-1 record on the season with 3 clean-sheets. Her 335 minutes of scoreless soccer has her ranked third in the nation, as well as third for most shutouts in a season.

Her four games played of scoreless soccer ranks her first in the conference out of all goalkeepers. Karinshak has posted a 1.000 save percentage standing her at the top of the conference alone. Her three shutouts also rank her first in the Sun Belt Conference, two clear of the next closest keeper.

"We're excited for Lauren," Head coach Brian Dunleavy said. "She deserves this honor. She has had a good start to the season. I am particularly pleased because of how much work she has put in this offseason. Our back four has done a great job too, and has made her life easier. It's been enjoyable to watch her grow, and I am looking forward to seeing her continue to develop this season."

The Eagles will now travel to Pullman, Washington to compete in the Washington State Tournament. The Blue and White will face off against Montana on Friday and Washington State Sunday.
