Eagles Travel to Macon to Begin Road Stint

Women's Soccer to compete in the Mercer Tournament

STATESBORO, Ga. – With the first weekend of games finally behind us, things begin to heat up on and off the field. The Eagles will travel to Macon, Georgia, this weekend, to compete in the Mercer Tournament. The Blue and White will face off against Kennesaw State on Friday at 5:30 PM and Siena on Sunday at 1:00 PM.

The Eagles are coming off a 1-1-0 record at home falling to Florida Gulf Coast in the season opener, before defeating Gardner-Webb on Sunday afternoon. Frida Brattum scored the lone-goal, while Lauren Karinshak shut the door on the Bulldogs.

"We're excited to play in the Mercer Tournament this weekend," Head Coach Brian Dunleavy said. "We'll be playing two very good teams. Although we faced Kennesaw State last year this will be a different team in 2017. They've had a big turnover and they're very young, but well organized. They have an excellent coaching staff who have their team highly motivated. It'll be a very tough test for our players. With Siena on Sunday, it will be another stiff test. They've been historically very competitive in the MAAC. We're looking forward to the challenge ahead."
