STATESBORO, Ga. – This past weekend, the Eagles' men's tennis squad traveled to the Lone Star State to compete against Abilene Christian, Idaho, and the University of Incarnate Word. The Eagles would finish the weekend 1-2 falling to Abilene Christian and Idaho, before defeating the Cardinals of Incarnate Word 4-1. The blue and white will have the week off before heading to UT-Arlington to begin Sun Belt play on March 18.
Â
"We had a rough weekend," head coach
Sander Koning said. "We played some good teams, but overall we didn't take care of our opportunities. We fought hard but weren't sharp enough on Saturday. We gave some leads away and we weren't able to recover from it. It is just something we will need to get better at on the road. Now we have some rest before playing UT-Arlington on Saturday."
Â
ABILENE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY – On Saturday morning the Eagles took to the courts in Texas to face off against Abilene Christian University in the first match of the doubleheader. The Eagles would fall 4-3, after being behind 4-0 and winning the bottom three singles matches. The blue and white would return to action later that afternoon against Idaho.
