STATESBORO, Ga. – For the first time since 2015 the women's soccer team is back in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Eagles will be seeking revenge after falling to Troy Sunday afternoon. The Trojans shutout the Eagles 5-0 and claimed the third seed in the conference tournament. Georgia Southern and Troy will face off in the first round Wednesday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
The last time the Eagles were in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament they faced off against Troy in the first round. The Trojans defeated the Eagles 3-0 and advanced to the semifinals against Georgia State. The Blue and White have had the last two days to prepare and rest for Wednesday's match.
With South Alabama being the one seed in the tournament, the Jaguars chose to play during the 2:00 p.m. EST game, flipping the conference bracket and forcing the Trojans and Eagles to play in the evening matchup.
Frida Brattum continues to lead the Eagles with 5 goals and 2 assists, while only playing in 15 of the 17 games the Eagles have played.
Lauren Karinshak has started every game in net for the Eagles, posting a 7-7-2 record for the Eagles.
