Eagles Begin ITA Southeast Regional Tournament

Women's Tennis travels to Athens, Georgia to compete in the ITA Regional Tournament
STATESBORO, Ga. – Following a weekend off for the Eagles, the Blue and White will travel to Athens, Georgia to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Georgia. Athletes from 17 different universities will be competing in an individual singles and doubles tournament.
Winners of both the singles and doubles championships receive an automatic entry into the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. The Fall Championships will be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California.
Four Eagles are slated to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament, with one Eagle earning a spot in the Main Draw. The other three Eagles will begin play of the Qualifying Draw at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday and conclude that same day if time permits.
The four Eagles that will be attended the ITA Regional Southeast Regionals are Ella Monsey, Charlotte Van Diemen, Emilia Bujan, and Arianne De Winter. De Winter qualified for the main draw and also qualified for the main draw in doubles play with Charlotte Van Diemen. Qualifying will begin tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. at the University of Georgia.
The schools competing in Athens are: Florida A&M University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida International University, Florida State University, University of Florida, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Kennesaw State University, Mercer University, University of Miami, University of North Florida, Savannah State University, University of South Florida, and Stetson University.
The Eagle Tennis teams have launched a crowdfunding campaign to take their programs to the next level.
