STATESBORO, Ga. – Sunday afternoon the Eagles and Panthers took to the pitch for the 21

Maddie Klintworth made her first collegiate start for the Eagles, after appearing in 13 games this season. The Panthers jumped out to a quick start pressuring the Eagles in the box.
Brooke Smith was able to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead, following the Penalty Kick that was awarded in the 13
th minute. The Eagles were able to settle down and regain composure, after a handball in the box during the final minutes of the first half awarded the Eagles with a Penalty Kick.
Paige Hoover took the kick and knocked in home to level the score at one all heading into the half.
Coming out of half the Blue and White continued to battle increasing their corner kick numbers. The Eagles finished with 11 on the afternoon, which was a new season high for the team. In the 57
th minute a corner kick finally paid off when
Madeline Jones scored her first goal of the season.
Frida Brattum place the ball into the box, while
Paige Hoover flicked the ball to
Madeline Jones, who headed it into the back of the net.
The Panthers struggled to get anything going in the second half and were outmatched overall. In the 88

Both overtime periods were a lot of back and forth soccer. The Eagles and Panthers combined for two shots total in the 20 minutes of extra time. The Blue and White will be back in action Friday, at home, against Little Rock.

WHAT HEAD COACH BRIAN DUNLEAVY SAID
"I'm upset that we conceded late. We allowed two goals that could've easily been prevented. We've got to do better finishing the game off, and we were dominant in every facet of the game. Some individuals were outstanding today and there were a lot of positives to take away. Unfortunately we won't take three points, so well just take the point and move forward. We have three games to go and we are right in the thick of it, we just have to press forward now. I will say it we showed a lot of mental toughness in overtime, many teams would collapse and lose in overtime after giving up a late goal. This group had the fortitude to keep fighting."
