Women's Tennis concluded their annual Georgia Southern Invitational this past weekend
STATESBORO, Ga. – Sunday morning capped off the final day of the Georgia Southern Invitational for the women's tennis team. The Eagles began the weekend on the right foot going undefeated in singles play on Friday. The weekend had almost perfect weather for tennis and called for a great weekend.
Emilia Bujan was able to make it all the way to the finals of her draw before falling to her opponent from Troy. The Eagles will practice this week, before heading to Macon for the Mercer Fall Invite. The invite will be held from October 6 to October 8.
WHAT HEAD COACH SEAN MCCAFFREY SAID
"We had a good weekend of tennis all in all. The weather was just about perfect to get everyone some good action as we continue to try and build our teams foundation. We had better results overall than our previous tournament and I was impressed with how we are coming along competitively. As a team we still have much to work on in terms of stepping up in key moments and how to handle our own games when we don't "feel" like we are at our best. Overall I was impressed with how all five of the women played at different points during the weekend. Everyone made some kind of contribution. Paige Christian had some good returns and net play to get a key win in doubles against Troy and UT-Chattanooga. Ari had to figure out how to stay steady when she felt her shots were not a reliable source and had a nice win over Georgia State. Ella Monsey also proved to be quite resilient after a tough loss in her final tournament, as she rebounded nicely with a good singles win over Georgia State. Emi had a good ride to the finals of her singles draw and cleaned up some things competitively in comparison to her previous tournament. Charlotte had a fantastic comeback singles win over Troy as she worked on how to fight through adversity and find a way to win when she was feeling a little off."
