Mossburg Hits Zone Target in Meet Against Clemson

Freshman qualifies for Zone Championships on 3M board
STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Diving faced Clemson on Saturday to open the second half of the aquatic season. Freshman Gretchen Mossburg placed fourth on the three meter board, posting a career-best 284.93 which qualifies her for NCAA Zone Championships.
Freshman Markiyah Davis placed 10th (227.55) on the 1M board and 11th (233.33) on the 3M board. Mossburg's fourth place finish on the 3M board was backed up with an eighth place (256.65) showing on the 1M board.
"We competed well against a very deep Clemson team," said Diving Coach David Giambra. "I felt like we competed better today than we practiced this week. It is good to see our young divers step up like that. I'm happy that Gretchen Mossburg qualified for Zones today, that's a big accomplishment for a freshman. We competed very well today, but we're only a month away from the CCSA Championships where we will compete for steps on the podium."

The Eagle swimmers return to the pool next weekend with a pair of dual meets. Georgia Southern visits SCAD on Friday night before returning home on Saturday to face North Florida. Both meets feature swimming events only with Friday's competition at 5 p.m. and Saturday's at Noon.
