LAST TIME OUT
Georgia Southern is coming off of a huge 1-0 win over Sun Belt rival Texas State at home last Sunday. A strong performance by the Eagles defense as well as freshman goalkeeper Lauren Karinshak kept the Bobcats off the board and led GS to their first shutout of the season. Senior forward Jennifer Wittick scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 51st minute, which turned out to be just enough to propel GS to their first Sun Belt win.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers have posted a 2-1-0 record so far in their first season as a member of the Sun Belt. CCU is coming off of their first conference loss on Friday evening, where they dropped a 2-0 decision to Georgia State. The Chanticleers previously shut out Sun Belt opponents Arkansas State (4-0) as well as Appalachian State (3-0). The Chanticleers are led by senior forward Amber Adams and junior forward Daniella Famili, who lead the team in goals with three. Senior Becca Austin (3-3-1) and sophomore Morgan Divine (2-1-0) have shared time between the pipes for Coastal, recording 43 saves on the year.

SCOUTING TROY
The Troy Trojans will take on Georgia State on Friday, and then travel to Statesboro to face off against the Eagles on Sunday. Troy, who is currently 1-1-1 in the Sun Belt, most recently fell to UL Lafayette in overtime, 3-2. The Trojans picked up a win over Appalachian State earlier in the season, 3-0, and tied with Arkansas State, 1-1, in a double overtime matchup. Troy is led by sophomore forward Brooke McKee who has tallied four goals and 12 shots on goal already this season. Junior goalkeeper Mikki Lewis has seen the most action between the pipes for the Trojans, recording 41 saves and holding a record of 4-5-2.

SERIES HISTORY
The Chanticleers and the Eagles meet for the seventh time in a series that is tied 2-2-2. GS and CCU have faced off against each other the last two years; CCU winning 2-1 in 2015, and finishing in a 2-2 tie in a double overtime game at Eagle Field in 2014.

Troy and Georgia Southern will play each other for the fifth time in a series where Troy leads, 3-1. The two teams faced off twice in 2015, where the Trojans were victorious in both contests. The Eagles lost in the regular season at home, 1-0 and were paired off to play each other again at the Sun Belt tournament in Atlanta, Ga. Troy ended the Eagles 2015 season by defeating Georgia Southern, 3-0.

FANS ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR OWN LAWN CHAIRS TO GAMES
Georgia Southern invites fans to bring their own lawn chairs to all home soccer games and sit in the grassy areas to the sides of the goals just off of the playing surface. Tents are not allowed and pets must be kept off the track and field.

GEORGIA SOUTHERN ATHLETICS TO AID LOUISIANA FLOOD RELIEF
Georgia Southern student-athletes are joining together to help raise funds for flood relief in Louisiana. GS Athletics will be asking patrons to join this effort during football, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball home games until Nov. 7. The money raised will be presented at the home football game against the UL Lafayette on Nov. 10.

"Our hearts are with the people affected by the floods in Louisiana," said Tom Kleinlein, Athletic Director at Georgia Southern. "My hope is that Eagle Nation will contribute and we all can impact lives that have been affected by this devastation."

Kleinlein, Georgia Southern President Jaimie Hebert, and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee will be giving the donations to a UL Lafayette representative at the game.

This cause is a significant for one of the Georgia Southern student-athletes. The Sun Belt has two peer members based in Louisiana and while only one student-athlete hails from the Bayou State, she was directly affected by the disaster. The home of Taylor Thompson's grandmother was destroyed due to 4 feet of flood waters. Thompson is from Baton Rouge – one of the hardest areas hit - and is a senior on the GS women's golf team. The student-athletes at Georgia Southern find it particularly meaningful to be able to directly help someone with such a close tie to this university.

Georgia Southern student-athletes will be at each home game collecting funds. The athletes will be holding buckets located at the guest relations tents near Gate 8 and Gate 12 for football games, and at the entrance of the facilities for soccer and volleyball games. Georgia Southern is asking the fans of both teams to give generously for such an important cause. Cash or checks made out to "Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation" will be accepted. Donations can also be made at the Athletics Ticket Office on Lanier Drive during normal business hours or online at GSEagles.com.

NEXT UP
The Eagles will hit the road next Friday to travel to Atlanta, where they will face off against in-state rival Georgia State at 7 p.m.
