Georgia Southern opens a four-match homestand by taking on South Alabama Friday and will play host to Troy Saturday. Georgia Southern is 6-2 in Hanner Fieldhouse this season.
GS is 5-1 all-time against South Alabama but lost last season's meeting 3-1 in Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles are 3-3 against Troy and won the lone meeting last year 3-1 at home.
The Eagles opened conference play with a split on the road last weekend. GS fell 3-0 at ULM Friday and topped UL Lafayette 3-2 Saturday.
Katie Bange notched her fifth triple-double of the season, which ranks second in the country, with a career-high 23 kills, 25 digs, 31 assists and six blocks against UL Lafayette. The redshirt senior averaged 3.75 kills, 3.62 digs, 5.50 assists and 0.75 blocks per set while hitting .329 for the week.
Alex Beecher logged 29 digs and eight assists against UL Lafayette and now has 40 career matches with 20-plus digs. The redshirt senior has 2,043 career digs, 359 shy of moving into the top-25 in NCAA history.She ranks second in the league in digs per set.
Cathrine Murray has six double-doubles this season and tallied 12 kills and 18 digs at UL Lafayette.
Lauren Reichard ranks second in the league in blocks with 74.
The Eagles rank second in the Sun Belt in aces and aces per set, and Beecher ranks second in aces with 19.
Following the weekend, Georgia Southern stays at home to face Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina next Friday and Saturday.
