Georgia Southern opens Sun Belt Conference play on the road in Louisiana this week. The Eagles play at ULM Friday and at UL Lafayette Saturday, and the contests cap a five-match road trip.
Georgia Southern split with ULM last season with each team winning on the other's home floor, and owns a 3-1 record against the Warhawks. The Eagles are 2-1 against UL Lafayette and won last year's lone meeting 3-1 on the road.
The Eagles finished off tournament season by going 1-2 at the Hampton Inn Crimson-White Tournament in Alabama last weekend. They have one non-league match left, which is at Savannah State Oct. 24.
Alex Beecher averaged 5.36 digs per set last week and passed the 2,000 dig mark for her career. Already Georgia Southern's all-time leader in digs, she now has 2,005 and is 397 shy of moving into the top-25 in NCAA history. The redshirt senior logged 24 digs against North Florida and 24 vs Presbyterian last week, giving her 39 career matches with 20-plus digs. She ranks second in the league in digs per set.
Katie Bange is tied for second in the country in triple-doubles. The redshirt senior is averaging averaged 2.88 kills, 4.61 assits, 1.79 digs and 0.73 blocks per set.
Megan Chevalier returned to action for the first time since August last weekend and logged 11 kills in two matches.
Following the weekend, Georgia Southern opens a four-match conference homestand, and all four contests will be against East Division squads in Hanner Fieldhouse. The stretch begins against South Alabama Friday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m.
