DECATUR, Ga. – The Georgia State softball team used a six-run second inning to down Georgia Southern 8-0 in six innings Friday evening at Bob Heck Field in the first game of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series.
After a scoreless first inning, the Panthers broke loose with six runs on four hits in the bottom of the second. A pair of two-run hits busted the game open and forced a pitching change.
Heather Felt then came on and kept the Panther bats at bay for two innings before GSU scored a run in the fifth inning and another in the sixth.
Emily Snider singled up the middle in the fourth inning to break up the no-hitter while

Haley Carter,
Morgan Robinson and
A.J. Hamilton drew walks in the game.
Dixie Raley (L, 22-12) went just 1 1/3 innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on four hits with three walks and a strikeout. Felt pitched the final 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with two walks and a strikeout.
With the win, Georgia State improves to 29-26 overall and 12-10 in the Sun Belt while the Eagles fall to 29-25, 12-10 in the SBC.
NEXT UP
The two teams will wrap up the series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The winner of the series will earn a point in the Rivalry Series.
