Eagle Softball Falls 4-1 to Troy in Series Finale

GS will be back on the road Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader at Savannah State

Highlights:
• Morgan Robinson hit her 105th career RBI in the fourth inning.
• Emily Snider scored her 90th career run which has her in sole possession of 9th all-time
 
TROY, Ala. – The Georgia Southern softball team dropped their Sun Belt Conference series finale 4-1 to Troy University Sunday afternoon despite out-hitting the Trojans 7-5.
 
The Trojans (28-19, 9-9 SBC) started the game off by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead before the next two innings passed scoreless. In the fourth inning, Emily Snider led off the frame with a double to left-center field – the 28th of her career – setting up Morgan Robinson who capitalized with a single to right field, scoring Snider from second. The RBI was the 105th of Robinson's career and the run scored by Snider was the 90th of her career and now has her in sole possession of ninth all-time.
 
Troy scored a solo run in the bottom of the fifth when Amanda Winters hit a home run to right-center field, putting the Trojans up by the final tally of 4-1.
 
The Eagles finished with seven hits on the day led by Snider's 2-for-4 performance at the plate. For the weekend, Snider went a combined 7-for-10 with two extra base knocks, four runs scored and three runs batted in to compliment a 1.100 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage. Taylor Rogers also had a very solid weekend as she went 5-for-12 with three runs scored and an RBI over the three games.
 
Freshman Dixie Raley (20-10) pitched the complete game for Georgia Southern (27-21, 11-7) and struck out five batters in the game. Raley finished the weekend with opponents hitting just .143 against her, complimented by 11 strikeouts. Ashley Rainey (15-13) earned the win for Troy on Sunday.

UP NEXT
Georgia Southern will close out the current six-game road swing with a midweek doubleheader at Savannah State on Wednesday, April 27. The twinbill against the Tigers will begin at 5 p.m.
