A week after the Eagles opened the spring season at the All There August Challenge in Texas, Georgia Southern competes in the Amelia Island Collegiate Feb. 22-23. It's the third edition of the tournament, which began in 2014. The tournament will consist of 54 holes, with 36 Monday and 18 Tuesday.
Georgia Southern placed eighth in the spring opener, matching its highest finish of the 2015-16 season. Ariana Macioce tied for ninth, her second straight top-10 outing.
"We have had a successful few days of practice before heading to our next event at Amelia Island," said Georgia Southern coach Emily Kuhfeld. "The team is looking forward to competing on a beautiful golf course."
Macioce leads the team with a 76 scoring average, and Iben Hvass is second with a 76.60. Hvass and Yeji Shin have played in every tournament this season. Ansley Bowman makes her fifth start, and Annie Swords will compete in her fourth tournament.
Georgia Southern will be paired with Georgia State and Bradley and tee off on holes 13-15.
Georgia Southern was recently named the "sleeper" pick in Golfweek's Sun Belt preview. This is the first season of women's golf at Georgia Southern.
Following this tournament, the Eagles compete for the third straight week to start the spring when they travel to the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Feb. 28-March 1.
