STATESBORO, Ga. – Having an undefeated weekend in Montgomery, Alabama last week, the Georgia Southern women's tennis team heads back to the state on Saturday to play Auburn, but only after they play their second home match of the year against College of Charleston on Friday during Blue and White Week. Â
Â
The Eagles, who hold a 5-1 record, face off against the Cougars, who are 3-3, at 1 p.m. in the Wallis Tennis Complex. College of Charleston comes to Statesboro off of a 6-1 win over Coastal Carolina, but the Blue and White have a winning streak going themselves. They've won the past four matches, including three last weekend in Alabama.
Â
Auburn on the other hand, boasts a 9-1 record and has swept their opponent eight of those times. The Tiger-Eagle battle is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Â
For the first time this spring, the Eagles won all three of their doubles matches against Kennesaw State and also picked up the doubles advantage against Jacksonville State and Alabama State. Juniors
Mariana Ranzahuer and
Giulia Riepe helped fuel the success, by winning all three of their doubles matches on top of their singles matches. Ranzahuer played No.2 singles and No.1 doubles, while Riepe stayed at the top spot in singles and switched between No.2 and No.3 doubles.
