Women's Tennis Travels to Gainesville For ITA Regionals Championships

Eagles compete in five-day regional event
STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern women's tennis team will travel to Gainesville, Florida this Thursday October 20th to compete in the ITA Regionals Championships.
The USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships will feature athletes from 17 different schools, competing in individual and doubles tournaments. The Championships will run from Thursday October 20th until Monday October 24th. The winner from each of the USTA/ITA Division I Regional Championships will receive an automatic entry into the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, which will be held on November 3rd through the 6th in Flushing, New York.
DAILY SCHEDULE
Thursday Oct. 20: Qualifying Draw – 2 rounds of Singles, 2 rounds of Doubles – 8:30 AM start time
Friday Oct. 21: Main Draw – 1 round of Singles, 2 rounds of Doubles – 8:30 AM start time
Saturday Oct. 22: Main Draw and Backdraw – 2 rounds of Singles, 1 round of Doubles – 8:00 AM start time
Sunday Oct. 23: Main Draw and Backdraw – 2 rounds of Singles, 1 round of Doubles – 9:00 AM start time
Monday Oct. 24: Main Draw and Backdraw – Singles Final, Doubles Final – 9:00 AM start time
The field includes Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida International University, Florida State University, University of Florida, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Kennesaw State University, Mercer, Miami, University of North Florida, Savannah State, University of South Florida, and Stenson.
"We are very excited to compete in the ITA Regional this weekend." Said coach Michele Stanford. "Our team has been working very hard leading up to this event, and I know that they are very excited for the opportunities which lie ahead. There is going to be some very strong competition, and I am looking forward to watching these four produce some strong results in both singles and doubles."
LAST TIME OUT
The Eagles traveled to Mercer to compete in the Gridiron Classic. Ella Monsey advanced to the finals of her draw. Nicole Gilner would win the consolation bracket of her draw in straight sets. Monsey and Gilner would partner for doubles at the Gridiron Classic and would advance to the quarterfinals of their doubles draw.
