STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's soccer team travels to Clinton, S.C. on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against Big South Conference foe Presbyterian College. The Eagles and Blue Hose will kick off on the Big South Network at 6 p.m., meeting for the ninth time. The Eagles enter the game on a streak of three straight matches where they have secured a positive result including wins over in-state rival Georgia State as well as Gardner-Webb at home last week.

SCOUTING THE BLUE HOSE
Georgia Southern and Presbyterian have met eight times on the soccer pitch prior to Tuesday's game with the Eagles owning an all-time record of 5-3 over the Blue Hose. That record includes a 4-0 mark in Statesboro, but a 1-3 record in Clinton. The Eagles have won the last three games in the series by a combined score of 10-2. GS won last season's meeting 2-0 at home after taking the 2014 game 5-0 over the Blue Hose in Clinton. Presbyterian's last win in the series came on Sept. 26, 2012 when the Blue Hose won 3-2 in Clinton. The Hose are coached by first-year head coach Jonathan Potter.
On the year, the Blue Hose are 5-7-1 overall and 4-2 at home. They started the season off with three straight losses to Wofford, USC Upstate and UT Rio Grande Valley. They have also fallen 2-0 to Georgia State but claimed a 1-0 overtime win at home over Mercer. The Blue Hose earned a positive result in four straight games earlier in the season with just one of those games not going to overtime. In their last three games, PC has gone 1-1-1, including a 2-0 win at home over Longwood in Big South Conference play this past Saturday. Most of Presbyterian's goals have come in the second period this season and they have been a part of six overtime games, including four that went to double overtime.
Five players have started all 13 games for Potter and Presbyterian, including leading scorer Mason Lewis. Lewis leads the team with seven goals scored and 16 points, including a pair of assists. He has taken 23 shots, 12 on frame, and has scored four of the Blue Hose's five game-winners. Cade Crow, who has started 11 matches, has the only other game-winner and is second on the team with three goals scored. He is also tied for first on the team with three assists and is second in points (9) and shots (18). In goal, Connor Behrend has started 11 games and boasts a 0.95 goals against average. He has conceded 11 goals on the year compared to making 64 saves and is currently 5-5-1 with three shutouts.

The Georgia Southern men's soccer team endured 22 shots by Coastal Carolina Saturday night on the road, but the Eagles stood resilient as they earned the second clean sheet of the season and played to a draw with the Sun Belt Conference newcomers. The 0-0 draw earned both teams one point towards the conference standings. Georgia Southern is currently tied atop the league standings with Appalachian State and Hartwick with four points.
Saturday night's draw was the third positive result in as many games for the Eagles and is the longest such streak by GS dating back to three wins early in the 2014 season. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Torgeir Fjaer earned his second shutout of the season and recorded seven saves between the pipes for the Eagles to improve to 4-3-2 on the year. The Eagles took 10 shots and had six corners compared to eight by the perennially strong Chanticleers.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN NINTH IN SOUTHEAST REGION POLL
Georgia Southern entered last week ninth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Southeast Region poll. The Eagles are one spot ahead of rival Georgia State. Florida Gulf Coast is first in the Southeast, Charlotte is second, Kentucky third, South Carolina fourth and Sun Belt Conference foe Hartwick is fifth. Georgia Southern has defeated three teams that were ranked in the top-10 in the Southeast Region at the time, including Stetson, North Florida and Georgia State.

Wilson is currently tied for 25
th in the nation with 0.62 goals per game and is tied for 33
rd with 1.38 points per game. His eight goals on the year has him currently tied for 20
th in the country while his 18 total points is currently good enough for tied for 31
st.
Wilson is also atop the Sun Belt Conference with 37 shots and is also tied for first in the conference with eight goals on the year. He is also second in the conference with 2.85 shots per game, 1.38 points per game and 0.62 goals per game.
Fjaer is currently 48
th with a 0.790 save percentage, good enough for fourth in the Sun Belt, and is also 13
th in the nation with 5.44 saves per game. His 5.44 saves per outing and 49 saves both have him second in the conference.

Georgia Southern returns home for a crucial Sun Belt Conference showdown with Hartwick on Saturday, Oct. 22. The two teams, along with Appalachian State, are tied atop the Sun Belt standings with four points each. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. from Eagle Field.
