STATESBORO, Ga. – Following a mixed bag of results to open the year, Georgia Southern Women's Soccer returns to the road this weekend with a pair of games away from the friendly confines. The Eagles face Coastal Carolina on Friday night before heading to the Queen City to face Charlotte on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles enter the road swing at 0-1-1 on the year following Sunday's loss to Tennessee.
Melinda Lukas scored the Eagles' opening goal of the season just 62 seconds into the season in the draw against Jacksonville.
Katey Lippitt added another win in the 22nd minute when she pushed home a corner kick from close range. Jacksonville added goals in the 36th and 58th minutes to force extra time and eventually a draw.

Coastal Carolina enters Friday's home opener for the Chanticleers at 1-1-0 on the year with a win over Wofford (2-1) and a loss to Charlotte (4-1). The Eagles lead the all-time series 2-1-2 and visit Conway for the first time since Aug. 27, 2011 when the match was played to a 1-1 draw in the shadow of Hurricane Irene which spun just offshore. The Eagles and Chanticleers played to a 2-2 draw last season in Statesboro.

The Eagles face Charlotte for the first time in program history on Sunday in a trip to Transamerica Field in suburban Charlotte. The 49ers opened the year with a 4-1 win over Coastal Carolina but have a road games at Mercer on Friday night. Charlotte is currently ranked eighth in the NSCAA Central Region rankings of the season.
