Koivu Named All-America Scholar

Koivu took medalist honors at the 2015 Sun Belt Championship.
NORMAN, Okla. – Georgia Southern's Kim Koivu has been named a Cleveland Golf/ Srixon Division I All-America Scholar.
Koivu posted a 73.10 scoring average in 2014-15, posting two top-5 finishes. He won medalist honors at the Sun Belt Championship in the Eagles' first season in the league and became the first Eagle to take medalist honors at a conference championship since Drew Lethem, who won the SoCon in 2009. Koivu's score of 69-67-71=207 tied for the fourth-lowest round in Sun Belt championship history and was the lowest since 2008. He was named first-team All-Sun Belt.
A total of 206 players in Division I, 91 in Division II, 34 in Division III and 17 in NAIA earned the honor. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
