Denmark native joins the Eagles at center back in 2015
STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men's Soccer Head Coach Kevin Kennedy has signed Denmark native Emil Laursen to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Eagles for the 2015 playing season. He is the eighth signee to the class which will begin training camp in August.
Emil Laursen
6-1 | 189 | Defender
Silkeborg, Denmark | Skovbakken IK
Denmark native Emil Laursen joins the Eagle defensive unit following a youth career at AGF Aarhus and Skovbakken IK. While playing at AGF, Laursen earned silver medals in the U17 and U19 Denmark leagues while making 21 appearances at the U19 level and two starts with the first team reserves in 2013-14. Laursen moved to Skovbakken IK for the 2014-15 season. Emil earned the "Mr. AGF" award for living up to the values of the club, passion, engagement, responsibility, and respect.
"Emil comes to us from a very good system in AGF Aarhus reserve team of the Danish First Division," said Head Coach Kevin Kennedy. "Emil has been playing at a very high level for a long time and will bring some rigidity to our back line. His size, strength, athleticism, and skill with the ball will be a great addition to an already stingy defense here. We are excited about him joining the team and becoming and Eagle."
Emil joins the 2015 class of Luis Aponte (Atlanta, Ga.), Juan DeLima (Barranquilla, Columbia), Andrew Deltac (Marietta, Ga.), Christian Duncan (McDonough, Ga.), Torgeir Fjaer (Trondheim, Norway), Alfoso Ochoa (Tyler, Texas), David Rhoades (Wilmington, Del.).
