Final results (PDF)NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Scott Wolfes shot a 2-over-par 73 to tie for 21st, and Georgia Southern placed ninth at the Mason Rudolph Championship Sunday at Vanderbilt Legends Golf Course.
The Eagles (+34) finished two strokes behind Liberty (+32) and three shots back of SMU (+31). Host Vanderbilt (-6) won the tournament and was the only team to finish under par. Georgia Tech (+5) and Alabama (+5) tied for second.
The tournament featured eight teams ranked in the top-50 in the country and 15 individuals ranked in the top-100, according to GolfStat.Â
The 465-yard, par-4 10th hole, which played as the toughest on the course this week, did in the Eagles. The Georgia Southern quintet was +18 on the hole in the three rounds.Â
Wolfes played his final five holes 1-under today for his 73, and
Matt Mierzejewski posted a 75.
Jake Storey, who tied for 27th, and
Kim Koivu carded a 76.
Henry Mabbett finished with a 78, and individual
Archer Price carded a 75.
"Our effort and attitudes were good but nobody played consistently well this week, and our finish reflected that," said Georgia Southern coach
Carter Collins. "We have some time to work on our weaknesses and get ready for the conference champion ships in a couple weeks."
The Eagles compete in their first Sun Belt Championship April 19-21 at Raven Golf Club in Destin, Fla.
