MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – After a torrential downpour this morning made the Raven Golf Course unplayable, the Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship has been pushed a day and will begin with a scheduled 36 holes tomorrow.
The teams are slated to tee off at 7:30 a.m. CT Monday with continuous play. There will be no re-pairing between rounds, and the course will have the same hole locations for the first two rounds. The final 18 holes of the three-round tournament are still scheduled for Tuesday.
The Eagles are competing in their first Sun Belt Championship, looking for their ninth conference team title. Georgia Southern won four titles as a member of the Southern Conference and four as a member of the TAAC. The Eagles won the SoCon team title last season by a stroke over Chattanooga, and Charlie Martin, Scott Wolfes and Will Evans all finished in the top-10.
The winner of the Sun Belt gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals, though it appears the Eagles are in pretty good shape for an at-large bid as well.
