STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern dropped a 6-0 decision to ULM in the weekend finale behind 10 hits from the Warhawks. The Eagles visit Appalachian State on Friday to open a three-game set in the High Country at 4 p.m.
ULM drew first blood with two runs in the first, followed by two more in the third inning to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Singles up the middle drove in both runs in the opening frame. The Warhawks tacked on two more in the top of the seventh when Faith Bohack hit a line drive home run to left-center.
The Eagles mustered just three hits on Sunday after posting 22 in the two games on Saturday.
Emily Snider,
Michelle Mazur, and
Alesha Mann each reached base safely via hits.
Eagle leadoff hitter
Taylor Rogers reached base in the first off a throwing error by the ULM third baseman, but saw her 21-game hit streak halted. The streak ranks as the second-longest hit streak in program history behind Shanita Black's 30-game hit streak in 2006 and one game above Nina Iduate's 20-game streak in 2009.
Next up for the Eagles is an Easter Weekend trip to Appalachian State. The Eagles will go "up the mountain" for the three-game series which begins with a single game on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m.
