Schenkel Invitational Set for March 20-22 at Forest Heights

First Schenkel Nationwide Youth Golf Interactive Clinic set for March 18

STATESBORO, Ga. – The 2015 Schenkel Invitational will be conducted March 20-22 at Forest Heights Country Club in the 36th edition of one of college golf's most prestigious tournaments.
The field is again a strong one with nine of the 15 participating teams ranked in the top-50 in the country and all but two in the top 100, according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings (March 15). This year's field consists of defending champion Georgia Southern, UAB, Auburn, UCF, College of Charleston, Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, NC State, UNF, South Alabama, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
South Alabama is the only first-timer, and Wake Forest is returning for its 23rd appearance but its first since 2004. Florida will be participating for the 31st time, while Auburn, which won consecutive titles in 2010 and 2011, and NC State will make their 30th appearance. There will be a practice round on Thursday and 18 holes of competition on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
A new activity will be held in conjunction with the tournament this year - the Schenkel Nationwide Youth Golf Interactive Clinic. A golf clinic and contests with merchandise giveaways will be conducted for local boys and girls, ages elementary through high school, Wednesday, March 18, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Forest Heights practice area.
The activities will be carried out by Forest Heights' golf professionals and Georgia Southern coaches and players. Coaches and players of other teams participating in the Schenkel may also be participating. All youth who attend the camp will also get free dinner. There is no cost for the clinic, but participants must RSVP to Walt Garvin waegarvin@yahoo.com.
