2/27/2015 3:39:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The senior is winding down her four-year career.
Anna Claire Knight ranks in the top-10 in Georgia Southern women's basketball history in scoring and rebounding and wraps up her college career next week. The Eagles final home game of the season is against UT Arlington March 5.
1. Who got you in to the game of basketball and when did you start playing?
My dad introduced the game of basketball to me when I was about four years old.
2. If you weren't playing basketball, what others sports would you be competing in at the college level?
If I was not playing basketball in college, I would definitely be playing soccer. It was actually my first love and I continued to play it throughout high school.
3. What's it like being the only senior on the team and what's your leadership style?
Being the only senior has its pros and cons. It is nice to have that automatic sense of leadership on the team. My leadership style has always been more of a "lead by example" type, but this year I have had to use more vocal leadership skills.
4. If your talents were absolutely limitless, what would you do for a living? (you can't say professional basketball)
If my talents were limitless I would probably be a professional tennis player or golfer.
5. What is your perfect pre-game meal?
My perfect pre-game meal would be a little bit of grilled chicken with some pasta and I always have to have yogurt and granola.
6. What do you enjoy doing on your day off?
On my day off I enjoy taking my dog, Hanner, on long walks and playing fetch with him. I also like to catch up on all my television shows that I watch.
7. If you could start your own professional sports team what would the team name be and what would the colors be...why?
If I could start my own professional sports team, I would name them the Dublin Dukes and they would be royal blue. I am from Dublin and I've always been a Duke fan and royal blue is my favorite color.
8. Who on the team are you closest with?
I am closest with Abby Hix (Gale) and Lexi Sams.
9. What are the first 3 songs on your pre-game playlist?
I usually do not listen to much music before the games but if I did I think my top three songs would be:
Bang Bang by Jessie J
Uptown Funk
Blank Space
10. What's your go to dance move?
My friends and teammates like to call my go to dance move the "flappy bird" I really just kind of move my arms in a chicken like motion. AKA – I cannot dance.
11. Before a game do you prefer to get hyped up with the team, or do you prefer to keep it calm and do your own thing?
I prefer to keep calm and do my own thing until the team forces me to get hype with them. I enjoy doing both.
12. What are you majoring in and what's your favorite class?
I am a Sport Management major and right now my favorite class is Principles of Leadership
13. What makes Coach Vozab the type of coach you love to play for?
Coach Voz is such a determined and motivated coach and that is why I enjoy playing for her so much. I feel like we both share that same determination.
14. Who is the funniest person on the team and why?
That's a toss up between Abby Hix (Gale) who has more of a dry sense of humor and Briana Reece who just cracks everyone up with everything she says.
15. Name a teammate who has tons of potential and tell us why?
I think all of our freshman have a ton of potential and can easily reach that potential with hard work.
16. Once you're done at Georgia Southern, what do you want to be remembered as?
I want to be remembered as the player who left everything she had on the court.
17. What is plan once you graduate?
Right now I am in the process of applying to graduate schools to be a grad assistant for a women's basketball program. I am also considering playing professionally overseas.
18. You and "Gus" are lost somewhere in the woods, what's your plan for being rescued?
If Gus and I were lost in the woods my plan would be for Gus to make a bird call to Freedom and then we could send Freedom to go get help!
19. What do you want to say to the fans who have watched you play during your time at Georgia Southern?
I would like to send an enormous thank you to all the fans who have watched Georgia Southern Women's basketball throughout my career. Your support and encouragement have meant the world to me. Georgia Southern will always have a special place in my heart and much of the credit goes to the fans and supporters of the program. Thank you for making my collegiate career a memorable one.
