Wells and Falle combine to take the honors
NEW ORLEANS – Following a 2-0 week where the Eagles outscored their opponents 7-0, Georgia Southern Men's Soccer has swept the Sun Belt's weekly awards. Goalkeeper Jack Falle was named Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week while Nick Wells earned the offensive honor on Tuesday afternoon. Both student-athletes claimed their second Sun Belt award of the season this week.
With three assists this weekend in wins over Howard and Jacksonville, Nick Wells claimed the offensive award. The sophomore assisted on Emil Laursen and Alfonso Ochoa's first collegiate goals by delivering fantastic crosses into the mixer. Solid runs on both plays opened the Dolphin defense for the coup de grâce. In the win over Howard, Wells sprung Adam Abdellaoui for a goal with an incisive through ball pass from the defensive half that paved the way for the goal
Eagle netminder Jack Falle posted an unblemished mark of 180 minutes this week without allowing a goal against two very stout offensive units. He stopped three shots in each match to pick up his second and third shutouts of the season.
The Eagles will have another stern test on Tuesday night as they visit No. 4 Clemson. The match, which starts at 7 p.m., can be viewed for free on ClemsonTigers.com.
