STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern women's soccer team closes out their regular season home matches this weekend against the top two teams in the Sun Belt Conference. The Eagles face Troy on Friday night at 7 p.m. and conference leader South Alabama on Sunday at 1 p.m.Â
Supporting the Eagles on Friday will be over 400 student athletes for the annual GATA game, which will also be broadcast live on ESPN3. On Sunday, the eight seniors will be honored for Senior Day including
Nora El-Shami who earned the Sun Belt's Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week award after clinching a hat trick and an assist against rival Georgia State.Â

Georgia Southern sealed last Sunday's thriller, defeating Georgia State 4-3 thanks to El-Shami's penalty kick goal within the last four minutes of play.
Jennifer Wittick tallied another goal, totaling ten for her this season to top the team.Â

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTSÂ
Troy is on a four-game winning streak, not losing to an opponent since they lost 2-1 to South Alabama. The team has posted eight shutouts so far this season, and their goalie Mikki Lewis was named the Sun Belt's Defensive Student-Athlete of the week. Lewis hasn't let in a goal for her last 371 minutes of playing time.Â

The Jaguars are coming off a six-game winning streak and haven't lost to a Sun Belt team in 14 straight games, which is the most in the nation. In addition South Alabama averages 2.4 scores per game. Â

SERIES HISTORY
The Trojans and the Eagles are split on the series 1-1, with Troy taking the game last year 3-0. The only other time the two programs have faced each other was in 1997 when the Eagles dominated 8-1.Â
Last season, South Alabama shut out Georgia Southern both times the two teams went head-to-head, and the Eagles trail 1-5-0 in the series overall.Â
