ARLINGTON, Texas – Stacey Koch posted 15 kills and five blocks to lead UT Arlington to a 3-1 (25-22, 15-25, 25-13, 25-23) Sun Belt Conference volleyball victory over Georgia Southern Thursday night at the College Park Center.

Lauren Reichard contributed eight kills and six blocks, and Crysten Curry notched eight kills and three blocks. Katie Bange posted 42 assists, and Alex Beecher had 23 digs for her fifth straight match with 20-plus digs.

Quiana Canete finished with 11 kills and 11 digs for UT Arlington (12-5, 3-2), and Ashlynn Ford recorded 10 kills. Cassidy Wheeler tallied 45 assists, eight digs and four aces.

The story
Leading 2-1 in the match and trailing 21-18 in the fourth set, the Mavs scored three straight with Zhanelle Geathers putting down a kill and assisting on a block with Canete. A Koch kill later made it match point and after the Eagles got a kill, Ford ended the match with a kill. Down by two points late in the first set, Georgia Southern trimmed the margin to 23-22 with a Stephanie Spencer kill, but the Mavs answered with two straight kills to open a 1-0 lead in the match. The Eagles hit .324 in the second set with 15 kills and three errors on 37 swings to post a 25-15 win and tie the match 1-1. UT Arlington returned the favor in the third set and hit .321 en route to winning the frame 25-13.

Quotable from Coach Dustin Wood
""We're not happy with our result, but we made big strides tonight with our offense. We made some changes and really got rolling in the second set offensive and defensively but shot ourselves in the foot in the third with so many errors. We played well and executed on our opportunities in the fourth, hit 21 points and stopped executing. We were in position to make the plays but didn't win the big points in crunch time, which has been our Achilles heel. We have to find it in ourselves to finish matches and sets. We did a great job in the second set of finishing but did a bad job at the end of the match."
