STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Women's Soccer returns home for the first time in 2014 on Friday to face Mercer in the home opener for the Eagles. The game against the Bears starts at 7 p.m. and can be seen live on GS All-Access at GSEagles.com. It is Alumni Weekend with former Eagles returning to Eagle Field where admission is free.

Alumni Weekend 2014
Friday's game kicks off Alumni Weekend 2014 with former Eagles welcomed back to Statesboro. Former Eagle Women's Soccer players will be at the match, supporting the current crop of Eagles. The weekend also includes the GATA Club All-Sports Reunion on Saturday at the football game against Savannah State.

Eagles Take First Win Over Big Ten Team
Georgia Southern Women's Soccer captured its first win over a Big Ten Conference foe last Friday with a 2-1 victory over Indiana. Melinda Lukas scored two goals in the victory with marks in the fifth and 21st minutes.

Merson Earns Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week
Redshirt senior Katie Merson became the first Eagle to win a Sun Belt Conference award last week when she was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week following a shutout victory over UNC Wilmington. The 2-0 start extended Merson's seven-game unbeaten run against teams from outside the power five conferences.

Sun Belt Play: Coming Soon
Georgia Southern's inaugural season in the Sun Belt Conference features four home games beginning on October 3rd when Arkansas State comes to town. Two days later the Eagles will face Arkansas Little Rock at the friendly confines.

GATA Game set for October 24th
The 2014 Women's Soccer GATA Game is set for October 24th against Texas State. The marquee contest is a chance for all Georgia Southern student-athletes to come together and support each other.
